Unfortunately these crabs aren't any good to eat, there were so many of them in burrows all over the property. As we were leaving it was the beginning of their 'mating season', when literally hundreds of thousands of land crabs leave their hillside homes and travel down to the water's edge to lay their eggs. The ground becomes a living mass of crawling crabs!
