Email 6/11/02 (about a year and a half later)
We moved house, finally, a month ago. It's an amazing house… There's so much space now (we were 5 of us in a 2-bedroom flat before), the children get a room each, I get a study, there's an integral garage (gold-dust in central Brighton), and an extraordinary 30ft x 20ft roof terrace. A huge, friendly, "just-want-to-sit-with-friends-all-day-and-drink-coffee-in" kitchen. It's the most incredible space, converted from a brewery stables and modelled by it's previous Italian owner on his house in Milan. You walk into this door which looks like nothing - looks like the entrance to grotty bedsits - and it opens out inside into an absolutely wonderful space - full of light and warmth and wood and the feeling of Southern Europe.
And there's something even more brilliant about it that Paul and I realised about a week after we moved in and knew we'd just *have* to tell you. I was standing in the kitchen doing something-or-other at the work surface, and Paul came up behind me and put his arms around me and hugged me from behind like that, and there we were, me feeling just complete love and contentment and joy and suddenly I realised - we both realised - that was our vision! I said it right there, felt it right in my heart, KNEW it - "Paul, this is the moment! The one we imagined!" That was the creative visualisation, the image we had of ourselves, in a kitchen, in some house that we didn't yet know where it might be but felt right and beautiful, and that we both imagined to be near the sea (this one is *very* near the sea - just 100 yards from the beach). We made it happen - we had achieved what we set out to achieve, and so soon! I thought it would take years and years - but only 16 months after we first created that vision of our future selves, we found ourselves living it. It's a thing of unbelievable power! It's incredible that love makes so much possible - anything, it seems. Now we have to make a new joint vision to work towards. We are talking it through, what there is left to want for ourselves. But in some ways I want nothing other than just to continue living this extraordinary life - this love, this house, this family. It is just everything I ever dreamed of.
Paul says I'm to let you know he's desperate to go on another of your courses, and we did just have a look at the various weekends on offer, but realistically, we can't afford such things at the moment. The new house (*our* love nest!) is quite a financial commitment for us… But don't worry, as soon as I sell a book for a reasonable amount of money (or preferably, the film rights!) we'll be hopping on a plane to Canada… It's good to have something for aim for.
We're both looking forward to your book coming out, and will be first in line for a copy. Meeting you both changed our lives into something wonderful, and for that we will always be grateful. Perhaps the loveliest thing of all is that other people are now gaining from us what we gained from you… not that we're teaching tantra! … but the inspiration of the ideal… proof that the kind of love they dreamed of is possible. I know that when I met you both I thought, "I want what they have"… and now, I have friends saying the same to me. People warm to us just because we are so happy, because we radiate love - we're getting more work as a result, and being more successful in it too.
